taller far than a tall man

A field trip to various literary landmarks:

"Go ahead, then--I'll be on this bench right over here. I'll watch ya." I went over and sat down on this bench, and she went and got on the carrousel."

By any chance, do you happen to know where they go, the ducks, when it gets all frozen over? Do you happen to know, by any chance?" I realized it was only one chance in a million.

Supposedly, a childhood home.

Finally I sat down on this bench, where it wasn't so goddam dark. Boy, I was still shivering like a bastard, and the back of my hair, even though I had my hunting hat on, was sort of full of little hunks of ice. That worried me. I thought probably I'd get pneumonia and die. I started picturing millions of jerks coming to my funeral and all.

Pear Corn Muffins

This was sorta based off of this recipe but I changed stuff becuase that's the way I do it.

4 peeled and diced pears

1.5 c ground purple cornmeal
1.5 c rice flour
1/2 c tapioca starch
2 tsp salt
2 tbsp baking powder
2 tsp cinnamon

1 c olive oil
2 bananas
1 c coconut milk
1 1/3 c brown sugar
2 splashes of rum

Mix all the dry ingredients, mix all the wet ingredients and sugar, mix them together, put in the pears. I baked it at 350 for about 25 minutes. They were a little dry but also if you thought about them as being cornbread it seemed more normal to be dryish, but it was hard to think of them as cornbread because they were purple. The pears were really good inside and made up for them being dry. Gluten free and vegan. It made 23 muffins.

Ravioli

I made some pumpkin ravioli with Andrea at 1518, my favorite place in the world! It turned out okay, it was hard to get the dough thin enough (maybe a real rolling pin would help). Also each time we rolled it out it was harder. It was still good though.

I made a new header for the blog, it's kinda silly I might make another one soon that's more colorful. But it is from a picture that I took the first day I was in New York on my bike.

Antarctica Takes It!

My friend Dylan plays music as Antarctica Takes It! and he is almost done recording his new album called Constellations, he's trying to raise some money to release it so he made this video and a kickstarter page to try to do that. The end of the video makes more sense on the original page.

Listen to Antarctica Takes It!'s first album The Penguin League and the first single off of Constellations, "C+F" at http://antarcticatakesit.muxtape.com!

Old Books

We are cleaning out the basement of the old store, there are some crazy old books down there! I was going to take pictures of a bunch of them but my camera had turned on in my pocket and ran out of batteries so I only have this picture of Juan holding a giant dictionary. More to come??
