Weekend at Lackawack

I have been back in New York for more than a month now! Last weekend I went up to Naomi's family's house near Ellenville, NY. I finally finished the roll of film I'd been working on all summer so now I've got lots of pictures to post. Here are some from the trip, I'll post older ones soon or see them all on Flickr

On the ferry to Seattle

I am on the ferry to Seattle to catch a bus to Portland to hang out there for a week. Over the weekend I took the ferry over from Seattle to get to Beaca's farm near Port Townsend. We picked up Zelda in PT to bring him back to the farm for lunch. He and Connor have been stranded in PT for about a week. they sailed up from Olympia but haven't had enough wind to get around Whidbey Island and up into the San Juans. I'll be back in Seattle next week before I head back to New York.

Laika Tour

I am in Seattle! Last week though I was in Portland and my friend Yair and I took a tour of Laika the animation studio where our friend Jessica works. They are working on a new movie called The Boxtrolls which will come out in September 2014. I'm not allowed to share what we saw on the tour because it is top secret but they did put out this short trailer last week.

After the tour we walked by miles of Intel parking lots to get to the train back to Portland and along the way we picked a whole lot of blackberries. Just picked some more a few blocks from Bone House, they're getting ripe everywhere because it's been so nice everywhere up here.

I'm going back to Portland on Tuesday and then I'm going to try to make it up to near Port Townsend to visit Rebecca on the farm where she works.

Trip to Austin and Book Trailer

I went to Austin, TX last week to visit my friend Jess and to finish our new children's book. The new book will be out May 5 and is called The Ungrumblies! The 4 days I was in Austin were over real quick and we only even made it out of the house a couple times. The one fun trip we did was out to Lake Travis where it was a little cold for swimming but perfect weather for throwing rocks. The highlight of the trip was getting to meet Captain and Bones, Jess and Ray's dogs! They are real nice and always hungry.

The new book is an alphabet book about food allergies inspired by Edward Gorey's The Gashlycrumb Tinies. It is an experiment in total collaboration, we both wrote and illustrated the book, traded off sketches, colored each other's drawings and will be binding the books when Jess and Ray come to visit next weekend. We are having a release party at Mellow Pages Library on the 5th from 2 to 5.

We also made a book trailer for the book, watch it here, tell your friends!

G is for George

Jess and I are working on our next book which is called the Indisposed Offspring unless we decide to call it something else! It is an alphabet book about food allergies in the style of Edward Gorey's The Gashly Crumbtinnies. Right now I am working on sketches for some of the illustrtions. That's the last thing we gotta do and then make it a book. It should come out on April 26 if we can get everything done on time!

Cleanin Up This Place

I finally got around to making the videos from my tumblr fit in the sidebar and while I was at it I made the sidebar a little bigger and a little greener. Maybe I'll do some more cleanin up in a little bit? The blog could use a new header! And maybe some colors?
