Osceola National Forest

Tonight I am staying in the National Forest on the shores of Ocean Pond 'a bowl shaped lake stretching two miles wide and only 12 feet deep. I am about 50 miles from Jacksonville where there are severe thunder storms tonight so hopefully they get blown the other way. I am on longer on the Adventure Cycling Southern Tier Route and my ride tomorrow will connect me up with the Atlantic Coast Route.

East from Tallahasse

Today I rode out of Tallahassee on US 90 through the towns of Monticello and Madison. Before leaving town I went by the new and old capital buildings. I biked through mostly pine forest today in what I think is called Florida's 'Wilderness Coast'. It's not too hot but hopefully it gets cooler as I head north.

And night comes to Tallahassee

I am in Tallahasee using a computer at the FSU campus. Tonight I will stay with warm showers friend Sam. Tomorrow I will continue East through Florida and I hope to be in Georgia in 3-4 days. I am now in the Eastern Time Zone. Despite this sign in the picture it has been cloudy on and off and rained last night, I didn't get wet though as I was already in the tent.

Florida Panhandle

It was a long but mostly flat first day back riding today. I will cross over to the eastern time wood tomorrow morning when I pass into the part of Florida that is under Georgia. It is hot in the tent tonight but I have to have the rain fly on because it is stormy outside although it has only sprinkled so far.

At the beach

We went to the beach today in Ft. Walton Beach, the gulf water was pretty warm and the sand on the beach was as fine as salt.
